Life has been pretty busy (which is not necessarily a bad thing), and I’ve found myself putting out a lot of fires and having to do the “rolling with the punches” dance more often than I would like in order to maintain some order (and sanity). Therefore, I feel that a collection of quotes on “direction” are on topic right now. I am beyond grateful to be able to cling to a (mostly) firm sense of direction in these times of chaos.
“It is because Humanity has never known where it was going that it has been able to find its way.” — Oscar Wilde (from The Critic as Artist)
“When I reached the street I didn’t know whether to go right or left. Soon I’d have to start acting like a person who cared about what happened to him.” — Denis Johnson (from The Name of the World)
“Direction, like time, is a general thing, deprived of boundaries and borders. It is an endless process of interpretation and reinterpretation, doubling back and adjusting.” — Lauren Oliver (from Requiem)
